Intouch donates product to support those in need

Managing incontinence without access to appropriate products can be stressful and embarrassing. Imagine trying to manage incontinence if you were homeless or had to flee your home with little or no forward planning.

Intouch recently donated products with packaging damaged in transit or that had been returned due to incorrect product selection to Mission Australia. Intouch Product Manager, Marita Stromsem, said Intouch preferred not to send the products to landfill if they could be used to support and improve the quality of life of some of Australia’s homeless and disadvantaged.

“With contacts at Mission Australia and Chisholm Incorporated, we would rather these products help people who otherwise might not be able to access suitable continence aids than contribute to landfill,” Marita said.

Mission Australia’s Roma House in Brisbane provides accommodation and support services for up to 39 long term homeless people at any one time. Services include meals, recreational activities, access to healthcare and community services and tailored case management support.

Mission Australia Coordinator Community Education Programs, Kathie Kelly, said the donated products assist Mission Australia’s work to support Roma House residents transform their lives.

“The availability of some of these products for Roma House residents, many who are dealing with complex issues, is a welcome addition to assist with the work we do to build their self esteem and assist them on a journey to transform their lives. Many of the people Mission Australia supports have been on the streets and are unable to afford continence items, so the generosity of Intouch is greatly appreciated,” she said.

Chisholm Incorporated also works to support those in need, providing a refuge for women, children and young people whose lives have been impacted by domestic and family violence. Intouch donated products to Chisholm for their refuge residents to help them through what is already a very stressful and difficult time.
